Welcome to Le Montagard - our exceptional holiday home in Blauvac, Provence, nestled between Mont Ventoux and the Luberon mountain ranges. In 2023 the property was almost entirely renovated to a very high standard.
Set amidst nature reserves, vineyards and olive groves, this is arguably one of the most beautiful and spectacular areas of France, famous not only for its excellent wines and olives, but also for the picturesque landscapes and villages that inspired many famous artists like van Gogh, Renoir, Gauguin, Matisse to spend years in this light-filled region and paint some of their most famous pictures.
At Le Montagard, you will find a luxurious country house, perfect for your holiday getaway. Our 3-bedroom house, split over two independently accessed levels, is situated in the Ventoux area of Provence, close to the stunning perched village of Blauvac, where you can enjoy breathtaking views and a peaceful and quiet setting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The house comes with extensive private land, a large private pool, several terraces, offering a perfect spot to relax and take in the tranquil atmosphere.

Our house is located just 2 km from the charming village of Blauvac, surrounded by rolling hills, impressive landscapes and many more picturesque villages. This, as well as the countless wineries and great restaurants in the area, make up what is the typical Provence.
Le Montagard offers a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of tranquillity and is situated on a small ridge overlooking the villages of Venasque, Malemort-du-Comtat, Mormoiron, Méthamis and St. Didier.
An lovely short hiking trail leads to the highest point of our small hill range, to the chapel of Notre Dame des Anges.
Le Montagard offers the perfect place for a relaxing getaway.
The detached house was almost completely renovated in 2023. Attention was paid to a contemporary fitout and high-quality furnishings.
There are spacious and elegantly furnished rooms, a modern and fully equipped kitchen, a covered terrace and an outdoor area with a private 11 x 5 m pool.
Our holiday home has all the amenities to make a stay for 6 people uncomplicated and enjoyable.
The house consists of two living units -
On the ground floor (ca 105 m²) you'll find an extensive open plan living room and kitchen adjoined by a a large covered terrace, two bedrooms, two ensuite bathrooms and a separate WC.
On the upper level (ca. 50 m²), with "The Loft" you have an inviting entrance area, a work/dining space with a table, separate bathroom/WC and a spacious bedroom at your disposal. "The Loft" is equipped with a fridge and microwave. Access to the upper floor is via an external staircase and is not very suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The house is located in a nature and agricultural zone and is surrounded by forest, bush and vineyards.

On request, there is enough space for cyclists to store your bicycles in the garage. A small selection of tools, a maintenance stand and an air compressor are also available. Please advise when booking.

The Master Bedroom is equipped with a large (160 x 200cm) contemporary bed, a very generous wardrobe and dressing area and features its own private bathroom.

The Loft -

The Loft is our upstairs apartment, accessible via an outside staircase.
A perfect personal space for two people - equipped with a large bedroom, bathroom, lounge as well as a study area / table. Note the ceilings are quite low in places and tall people may need to duck a little in a few places.
The Loft comes equipped with a fridge and a microwave for that little bit of additional independency.
When renting Le Montgagard in the summer months, The Loft is always included in order to provide a fully exclusive experience for you.
In the months of September-October and April-June, The Loft is available for rent as separate unit.

The Loft bedroom offers a generous space and includes a large double bed (160x200cm), a wardrobe as well as airconditioning.
The room has views towards the garden and the treed area next to the house.

The Loft private bathroom has been entirely refurbished with top class equipment and features a walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet.

"The Loft" is available for 1-2 guests (minimum age 12 years accompanied by adult) for a stay of at least 2 nights (3 nights if a Friday, Saturday or a public holiday is included). Shared use of the pool and surroundings.
Nightly rate € 130 for "The Loft" plus tourist tax € 1.00 per day and adult guest.
Breakfast available by prior arrangement for € 15 per person.
End of stay cleaning charge € 50 to be paid in cash on arrival (includes bed linen, towels, soap, shampoo).
Security deposit € 300.

Le Montagard is within a day trip away from the cultural city of Arles as well as Nîmes with its 2000-year-old amphitheatre in the west, Aix-en-Provence and the metropolis of Marseille in the south and finally the vast Camargue with its horses and flamingos in the southwest. All the well-known cities as well as the small islands of the Camargue can be reached in 40 to 90 minutes by car.
It is worth visiting other Provençal towns in the Alpilles area, such as the village of Eygalières, Maussane-les-Alpilles with its market square, the village of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence with its labyrinthine alleys, the castle of Estoublon and of course Les-Baux-de-Provence. The latter place has unfortunately become very touristy in our view.

Flightseeing
Your host Adam, has been an active pilot for 40 years, has a wealth of experience and would be thrilled to welcome you on board of a 4-seat, single engine aircraft in order to show you this stunning area from above. Within 1-2 hours of flight time, a multitude of sightseeing attractions are possible. Mont Ventoux, the Gorge de la Nesque, the lavender fields of Sault, the Luberon villages of Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux and Lourmarin, Avignon, the Alpilles hill range. Even Arles, the Camargue, the Pont du Gard and maybe even the Calanques along the coast from Marseille are within reach. The departure airfield of Carpentras is a mere 11 minutes from Le Montagard.
Restaurants
There are a multitude of great restaurants available in the area. Obviously Google or TripAdvisor can be helpful here. Following we list a few restaurants we have personally visited and have had a good experience or have received positive feedback. Please note that in the height of the season, many restaurants book out early. Please advise if you would like us to book a table of behalf of you in advance to avoid disappointment. As in many areas, restaurants often are closed on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday or a combination thereof. Worth noting is that during the week, some restaurants offer a lunch menu of good value.

Wineries
Le Montagard neighbours two wineries - Domaine des Anges and Domaine du Tix. Both wineries are within walking distance and offer a tasting of their wines. Supplies of good wine are also at least doubly assured, so you're unlikely to ever be left high and dry here. In addition, there are many other first-class wineries:
Mur-mur-ium, La Ferme Sainte-Pierre, Domaine Vintur, Château Valcombe, Domaine de Fondrèche, Domaine Souleyrol, Domaine Plein-Pagnier, Château Pesquié, they and many more are all within a few minutes from Le Montagard.
Should you wish to venture a little further, great wineries in the Luberon – such as Domaine des Angèles and Domaine La Verrière in Goult, and in the opposite direction, the grand domaines in the beautiful village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and are surely worth a visit.
